The ancestors of Gordon's grandfather Dawson Corbridge have been based in the Hemsworth / Wakefield area of Yorkshire since the civil war in the 1600s. They all worked on the land and were classed variously as yeoman, husbandman or agricultural labourers.
Timothy Corbridge (1814 - 1871)was the last link to work on the land, his son's migrated to work in the coal mines.
Gordons grandmother Sarah Nodding was born in North Yorkshire. The extended Nodding family were craftsmen, notable trades were tailoring, shoemaking and cabinet making
