Searching for Mary

OFF TO INDIA Researched in March 2004
British Library British Library hold the East India Company records, that cover most of the British nationals (not in HM Forces) living and working in India. I now need to organise readers cards for British Library.
Madras Ecclesiastical Records Our first visit to 'Oriental & India Office Collection' at the British Library was to search the Ecclesiastical records, with some success.
marriage entry The copy of the church register showed William married Mary REDMOND in Madras in February 1837. The Reardon name was a later transcription error on the HM 39th Regiment marriage returns, the Reverand Cotterill got the name right in his register! It is of special interest that he added the comment " Both of the Parties are European to the best of my knowledge".
daughter's baptism William & Mary baptised a daughter in Bangalore in January 1838. (This child subsequently died in 1839 on a sailing ship travelling to the UK.)
Mary's birth Still no record of Mary REDMOND baptism in the Eclesiatical Records of India, looking at dates between 1811 and 1821.
Redmond births A child James Redmond was baptised and buried on 10 April 1824 at Masulipatam, India. His parents were James Redmond and Mary a native woman.
James Redmond James Redmond was a soldier in the Madras European Regiment (MER) of the East India Company troups.
The military embarkation list shows he was born Drumarrow, Down, Ireland and travelled to India in 1817.
There was no record found of marriage between James Redmond and Mary a native woman.
The Madras European Casualty List shows James Redmond died in service on 26 Dec 1824, aged 32 years.
MAKING ASSUMPTIONS
Mary Redmond Other certificates and parish entries reinforce the fact that Mary's maiden name was REDMOND. HM Military Records Admin made an error in recording William's marriage to Mary. Tut tut!
Redmond siblings The ecclesiastical records only document the baptism and burial of 3 month old James Redmond in April 1824.. Were there other children born between 1817 & 1824? Was it 'customary' to not baptise children from mixed relationships. This is a whole new culture and I do not know the rules.
Is this Mary? I was looking for a birth in India for Mary Redmond. James Redmond's native partner was called Mary. Could I make the assumption that they had a daughter called Mary?. Does this mean we may have Indian genes in our family.
O dear! I really need concrete evidence to identify Mary's parents.
